I graduated from college in 1977 and started working for State Farm. That job quickly turned into a rewarding 47+ year career. I spent the first ten years on the front lines handling large property and liability losses. Also, I helped to coordinate and supervise State Farm’s National Catastrophe Response Team(s).

In 1988, I decided to become a State Farm “Good Neighbor” agency owner. We help folks with auto insurance, home insurance, life insurance, income loss insurance and much more. We help synchronize your world of risk/insurance and financial services so that you can realize your dreams. We are located in Central Indiana and help folks in Hamilton County and the surrounding areas and are closest to zips 46062, 46060, 46074, 46069, 46032 and 46033 (Noblesville, Westfield, Sheridan and Carmel). I love the Lord, my family and sports. I’ve been a Collegiate Academic All-American and I’m in the Niagara County Community College Wrestling Hall of Fame. I was the Captain of the Valparaiso University team in 1977. In the 1980’s, I was a three time World Karting Champion and still love racing and spend the month of May as an official for the Indy 500. I still try to stay active and have completed (1) full marathon and (39) Indy half marathons.

I've been blessed to have been married to a real wonder woman (Linda) since 1984. She has been a great mom in helping us raise our two daughters, is an RN, has sold medical and pharmaceuticals and for the past 21 years has worked right here at Rick Aton/State Farm. Speaking of kids, the girls have done well themselves. They both graduated from The Ohio State University with 4.0 grade point averages and both captured two National Collegiate Swimming Championships for The Ohio State University. Chelsea is married and lives with her husband in Columbus, OH and both are Actuaries. Alexa finished her Masters in Social Work 2018 and got married August 2018. She and Billy, an electrical engineer, live in Stamford, CT. On 8/29/23, we became first time grandparents when Max & Chelsea welcomed Emma Reese Adler to their family. Although Max loves Reece's peanut butter cups - they choose the middle name of Reese because in the Bible it means passion and enthusiasm. On 3/22/24, Delaney Marie Lewis arrived to Billy & Alexa. How quickly we've grown from zero grandchildren to TWO!

My most interesting and rewarding story: In 1981, I was injured in a racing accident. While at the hospital I met one of the ER nurses named Linda. In 1984, she became Mrs. Aton. And the rest is history!
